Jerry N. Uelsmann: He combined pictures in the particular work to make a person in the water appear to have wings. i like a lot of his gallery because of the odd and unreal combinations he makes. i was fascinated to know he does his works without a computer. this particular work interested me because it has a very intriguing feel. i am not sure if he intended this to be a self portrait. however it gives a sense of mystery. you wonder if the figure is a angle with the appearance of wings. or if he or she is similar to the bird that is pictured. the trail of sunlight in the water gives what seems like a path to show what direction the figure is going. this could also be symbolism because the figure is heading in what appears to be deeper waters. this could be Uelsmann's way of showing a person going into an unknown future.
Levi Van Veluw: Levi's overall work is very unique and eye catching. the meticulous detail that goes into his work is unreal. as for his work being a reflection of himself i am not sure, but he shows a great deal of personification in objects you would not think of. his lights collection shows bright lights in the shape of his own face. the landscape collection could be trying to communicate the idea of personal qualities of nature, and thinking of the earth more as a person. a common theme of all his work is the depressed or stone look on all of his work.
